10 LNG-fuelled vessels ordered in February – DNV

Classification society DNV says there are currently 886 LNG-fuelled vessels on order globally, up from 876 in January.

This came after no new orders for LNG-fuelled vessels were placed in January.

The global LNG-fuelled fleet is currently made up of 368 vessels, with another 175 expected to join this year, DNV data shows. The majority of newbuild orders are for container ships, car carriers, tankers and bulk carriers.

Nearly 50% of the LNG-fuelled ships in operation today are deployed in Europe, including 16% in Norway. Asia (10%) and America (8%) follow on the list.
