Methanol-ready indicates that the vessel will not be equipped to operate on methanol upon delivery but is designed for future retrofitting to enable methanol propulsion. This implies the vessel will initially rely on fossil-based marine fuels until the retrofit is undertaken.

The vessel has been named AAL Antwerp and is the fourth vessel in AAL Shipping’s fleet which will comprise eight vessels in all.

The AAL Antwerp joins the three other vessels from the fleet and will operate in locations between Asia, Europe, the Middle East and the Americas.

The remaining four vessels will be delivered by 2026.
