Methanol-ready means the vessel is currently not equipped to operate on methanol but is designed for future retrofitting to enable methanol propulsion. This implies the vessel will initially rely on fossil-based marine fuels until the retrofit is undertaken.
Named AAL Dammam, the vessel is the sixth in a series of eight ordered from CSSC Huangpu-Wenchong Shipyard in Guangzhou, China.
It has now entered service and will be used to transport renewable energy cargo from China to the UK.
The fifth vessel in the series, AAL Dubai, was delivered in March this year.
