Antwerp-Bruges’ biofuel volumes slump year-on-year

July 23, 2026

Biofuel bunker volumes in Antwerp-Bruges dropped 36% on the year to 27,000 mt in the second quarter, port authority data shows.

Biofuel bunker volumes include pure B100 or blends like B30-VLSFO. Their share of total bunker fuel volumes dropped to 1% in the second quarter of this year, down from 2% in the same period last year.

First-half biofuel bunker volumes were down 43% year-on-year.

Antwerp-Bruges port operations were disrupted by pilot strikes and an oil spill related to a bunker operation in the second quarter.

The conflict in the Middle East contributed to tighten availability of blending stocks across the ARA, and increased bunker delays in Antwerp-Bruges in the second quarter.
