Avenir extends charter agreement with Excelerate Energy

Bunker supplier Avenir LNG has signed a multi-year charter extension with US LNG company Excelerate Energy for its 7,500 cbm LNG bunker vessel, Avenir Accolade.

In March, Excelerate Energy completed the acquisition of New Fortress Energy’s LNG import and power businesses in Jamaica. The acquisition includes the Montego Bay LNG Terminal, the Old Harbour LNG Terminal, and the Clarendon combined heat and power (CHP) plant.

As part of this deal, the involved vessel is expected to remain in operation in the region, although the duration of the charter agreement has not been disclosed.

In January 2024, Avenir LNG signed a two-year charter agreement for the Avenir Accolade with NFE Transport Partners, a subsidiary of New Fortress Energy.

The vessel will support LNG supply to Jamaican ports.
