This likely marks the first biofuel bunkering operation conducted in Hong Kong.

B24 marine biofuels are made up of a 24% biofuel components blended with 76% conventional marine fuels, typically VLSFO.

Banle Energy partnered with Hong Kong-based biofuel supplier ASB Biodiesel and fuel supplier Seven Seas Oil to carry out the first B24 operation. It expects to get a first-mover advantage by introducing B24 in Hong Kong.

“This sets the stage for the Hong Kong bunkering industry to use biofuels as a means to play its part for decarbonization,” Banle Energy’s chief executive officer Teck Lim Chia said.
