The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) reported an oil leak on Sunday from a Shell land-based pipeline between Bukom Island and Bukom Kecil.

The leak has been stopped at its source. Shell has deployed containment booms and craft with dispersants to clean up the oil near the leak site.

The MPA has sent seven craft with dispersants, along with vessels from Singapore Salvage Engineers, a maritime emergency and support services provider. Drones and satellites have been activated to monitor the spill, and relevant agencies have been notified to report oil sightings.

The MPA’s Port Operations Control Centre has advised passing vessels to avoid the area, though navigation safety remains unaffected.

A trader confirmed that the oil leak has not affected bunkering operations at the port.
