The B30 blend consists of 30% bio-component mixed with marine gasoil (MGO). This marks the first-ever B30-MGO delivery in Hong Kong, according to CPN.
While biofuel blends with fuel oil, such as VLSFO, have gained wider traction across Asia, MGO-based blends remain relatively uncommon.
Alongside the B30-MGO delivery, the operation also involved the simultaneous supply of a B30-HSFO blend.
However, the company has not revealed further details about the bio-component used, the bunker barge involved, or the recipient container ship.
Separately, Chimbusco recently reported delivering 78,000 mt of biofuel (likely blended) in the first half of this year—already surpassing its total for the whole of last year.
