The bulk carrier, United Crown, was bunkered with 800 mt of a B24 biofuel blend in Hong Kong this week. The B24 blend was made up of 24% biofuel derived from used cooking oil methyl ester (UCOME) and 76% conventional marine fuel.

The B24 biofuel blend supplied is International Sustainability & Carbon Certification (ISCC)-EU certified.

ISCC is a global certification system that sets standards for the sustainable production, sourcing and trade of all kinds of bio-based feedstocks and biofuels. The ISCC-EU certification assures that the biofuel blends supplied by CPN are sustainably produced from biomass and meet the legal requirements of the EU’s Renewable Energy Directive.

The company supplied over 2,000 mt of B24 biofuel stem to A.P. Moller-Maersk (Maersk) container line vessel in Hong Kong in November, and 700 mt of B24 biofuel stem to Japanese shipping company Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha's (K Line) vessel in Hong Kong in August.
