The bunker vessel is capable of carrying 7,500 mt of methanol, methanol trade association Methanol Institute (MI) said in an update. The vessel can be powered by both fossil fuel and methanol.
The vessel was designed by Chinese shipyard Zhejiang Xinhai Ship Design and Research Institute, MI added.
“It [the vessel] fully considers the risks of methanol filling and the future development needs of Zhoushan as a bonded ship fuel filling centre in Northeast Asia," MI quoted CCS as saying.
"The technical indicators of this type of ship, such as speed, load capacity, economy, and ship type adaptability, have reached the advanced level of similar international ship types,” CCS added.
