The vessels will be powered by Wärtsilä dual-fuel main engines and equipped with 1,300-kilowatt (kW) shaft generators, which use the rotation of the propeller shaft to generate electricity onboard.
The two vessels are the third and fourth LNG bunker vessels in a series being built by CIMC SOE for LNG vessel operating and chartering joint venture GSX Energy.
Construction of the first vessel in the series, S1157, began in May this year, while work on the second vessel, S1158, started earlier this month.
The companies have not disclosed further details, including the vessels’ expected delivery dates or intended deployment locations.
