CMA CGM Gold is the fifth vessel in the carrier’s planned fleet of 12 methanol-capable dual-fuel container ships, each with a capacity of 13,000 TEU.

It is equipped with a dual-fuel engine capable of running on methanol and conventional fuels and will be deployed on the company’s Asia–Central and West Coast of South America route.

The first four vessels in this series were delivered in the past couple of years.

These 12 vessels will be joined by six 15,000-TEU newbuilds and another six 9,300-TEU container ships retrofitted for methanol dual-fuel propulsion, bringing CMA CGM’s planned methanol-capable fleet to 24 vessels.

The French liner aims to expand its combined LNG- and methanol-capable fleet to 200 vessels by 2030.
