CMA CGM vessel debuts shore power in Callao port

Logistics firm DP World has inaugurated a shore power connection for container vessels at its terminal in the Port of Callao, Peru.

The Port of Callao is a deep-sea port on Peru's Pacific coast and one of the country's main maritime gateways.
French shipping firm CMA CGM's container ship Platinum became the first vessel to connect to the shore power system, allowing it to switch off its onboard engines while at berth and reduce emissions.
The project marks the first shore power connection for container vessels in Latin America, according to DP World.
