CMB took delivery of the 5,900 TEU container ship CMA CGM Masai Mara on 24 May, after a naming ceremony on April 27. The vessel is equipped with a dual-fuel engine that has an ammonia-ready notation.
This means that the vessel will need an engine retrofit to be able to burn ammonia at a future date, which has not yet been set.
"The ship is prepared to run on ammonia in the future. This applies to the entire design, including the MAN engine. In this way, the retrofit can be done easily," CMB said.
