The port authority said the facility is scheduled to be built next year and become operational before the end of that year.

The facility will have a capacity of around 50 mt/day of liquefied biomethane (LBM). Nordion’s website says the plant will also have tank storage.

The facility will help Swedish biogas producers to access new markets including shipping, the port authority said.

Swedish gas producer St1 Biokraft has signed a deal to secure a part of the facility’s capacity and is targeting bunkering, according to the port authority.

It said shipping companies calling at the port are already using LBM to power their vessels and the new facility will help scale up LBM use.
