The fire was immediately brought to control and no crew members were injured. However, one vessel nearby was affected by the incident.
The Cape Kortia fire has not had any impact on shipping traffic in the Panama Canal as the vessel was towed to dock at the PSA Panama International Terminal within its transit window, Panama Canal Authority says.
35 vessels are expected to transit the Panama Canal today, according to shipping agency Leth.
