COSCO has signed a $2.70 billion shipbuilding contract with China's Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding and China Shipbuilding Trading for the 12 vessels.
The 22,000-TEU vessels will be equipped with dual-fuel engines capable of running on LNG and conventional fuels. Deliveries are scheduled between 2028-2030, COSCO said.
The vessels are planned for deployment on COSCO's Far East-Northwest Europe trade route once delivered.
