The vessel, which will have a cargo capacity of 90,000 cbm, is designed to operate on both LPG and conventional marine fuels. It will also feature a shaft generator that harnesses energy from the rotation of the propeller shaft to produce onboard electricity.
Delivery of the newbuild is scheduled for July 2029.
Dorian LPG has not disclosed additional details about the vessel, including its intended trade routes or deployment plans.
The order follows the company's March delivery of Areion, an LPG dual-fuel VLGC built at the Okpo shipyard in South Korea.
The global fleet of LPG-capable vessels currently comprises 168 ships, with another 148 scheduled to enter service by 2030. Of the existing fleet, 158 vessels are dedicated LPG carriers, while the remaining 10 are designed to transport both LPG and ammonia, according to classification society DNV.
