DryDel secures K Line charter for four scrubber-fitted bulk carriers

The four vessels will be Greek dry bulk shipowner DryDel Shipping's first Capesize newbuilds.

The vessels are being built at Japan's Namura Shipbuilding and will operate under five-year charters.

These scrubber-fitted vessels will burn high-sulfur fuel oil (HSFO) while complying with the International Maritime Organization's (IMO) global 0.5% sulfur cap.

The company entered the Capesize segment in December 2024 with an order for two 182,000 dwt vessels at Namura Shipbuilding for delivery in 2028, followed by two more at the same yard scheduled for delivery in 2029.

Capesize vessels are the largest class of dry bulk carriers, primarily used to transport commodities such as iron ore and coal on long-haul trade routes.

Based on DryDel's latest fleet information and vessel announcements, at least three vessels in its fleet, Utopia, Rio Rita and Gloria del Mare, are fitted with scrubbers.
