The order includes two bulk carriers for the Norwegian shipping company Møre Sjø and two short-sea container vessels for the Netherlands-headquartered logistics firm Samskip.

Møre Sjø’s vessels will feature 1.7-megawatt (MW) hydrogen fuel cells, onboard hydrogen storage tanks, and bunkering stations. They are currently being built at the Gelibolu Shipyard in Türkiye and will mainly operate along the Norwegian coast, with delivery expected in 2027.

For Samskip, the company will supply 3.2-MW proton exchange membrane (PEM) fuel cells and containerised power systems. These short-sea container vessels are under construction at Cochin Shipyard in India and are also scheduled for delivery in 2027.

These two vessels are set to “be the first shortsea container vessels in the world to use green hydrogen as fuel,” according to eCap Marine.
