Methanol-ready means that the vessels will not be capable of running on methanol upon delivery, but they will have the option to be retrofitted for methanol propulsion in the future. This implies the vessels will likely run on fossil-based marine fuel in the near future.
The 2,280 TEU vessels will also be built with LNG-ready capability and chartered to ElbFeeder, a joint venture between Eimskip and Ernst Russ.
They will operate on routes linking Reykjavík in Iceland, Rotterdam in the Netherlands and Teesport in the UK.
Deliveries of the vessels are scheduled for the second half of 2028.
