Singapore-based Eastern Pacific Shipping (EPS) has partnered with Spanish wind-assisted propulsion system (WAPS) manufacturer bound4blue to install sails on its medium-range (MR) tanker.

Under the agreement, the new vessel will be fitted with three 22-meter suction sails by late 2025. It is being constructed by New Times Shipbuilding in Jiangsu Province, China.
This marks EPS's second collaboration with bound4blue. Earlier, in February, EPS retrofitted its 50,000-dwt tanker, Pacific Sentinel, with three suction sails from bound4blue.
The WAPS technology operates on active boundary layer control by drawing in air to reattach airflow to the sail, enhancing propulsion efficiency.
