Everllence completes full-scale testing of methanol dual-fuel engine
German engine manufacturer Everllence (formerly known as MAN Energy Solutions) has successfully completed full-scale testing of its methanol dual-fuel engine at its Test and Research Center in Frederikshavn, Denmark.

The first full-scale test campaign confirmed that the engine can operate in both diesel and methanol modes.
The methanol dual-fuel engine is engineered to deliver maximum efficiency with a methanol share of more than 95% across a broad load range in its variable-speed configuration. The engine uses a low-pressure port-fuel-injection (PFI) system, which allows for simpler fuel-supply arrangements, lower system complexity and reduced installation costs, Everllence said.
A PFI system injects fuel into the engine’s intake port before it enters the combustion chamber.
The engine has also been designed for relatively straightforward retrofitting, with a high degree of parts commonality. This gives shipowners greater flexibility to transition to carbon-neutral operation when required.
Everllence added that it has already secured the first commercial orders for the high-speed engine. Some variants are scheduled for delivery in mid-2027 to two separate superyacht customers.
“We are encouraged by the results achieved by the 175DF-M and look forward to supporting superyacht, tug, offshore, governmental and passenger-vessel applications,” Everllence’s sales & business development manager Florian Keiler said.
