Evos to expand methanol and ethanol storage capacity in Rotterdam
Storage infrastructure provider Evos Rotterdam has started construction on a methanol and ethanol storage expansion project aimed partly at supporting the expected growth of alternative marine fuels.

The project will add five new storage tanks with a combined capacity of 67,500 cbm at the company’s Rotterdam terminal. It will also include a new pump station, while the Port of Rotterdam will construct a new jetty to support the facility.
The project is expected to be operational by early 2028.
Evos said the expansion will strengthen its ability to handle methanol and ethanol for both industrial use and the developing marine fuel market.
Demand for low-carbon methanol, like bio- and e-methanol, as a marine fuel is expected to grow in the early 2030s supported by regulations, the company said.
Europe’s decarbonisation goals are also expected to boost ethanol imports, driven by rising use of renewable ethanol in road fuels and the growing production of sustainable aviation fuel from alcohol-based feedstocks, Evos added.
