The 46,000 cbm vessels were formally named Antwerpen and Arlon at theUlsan Shipyard.
The carriers were built by HD Hyundai Heavy Industries over three years and are set to be officially delivered in May and July 2026 after final outfitting, HD Hyundai said.
The vessels are the first two of the total four ammonia-powered MGCs ordered by Exmar LPG France, a unit of Exmar, in 2023 and 2024 and can run both on ammonia and conventional marine fuels.
The carriers measure 190 metres in length, 30.4 metres in width and 18.8 metres in height. They are equipped with three tanks each - one 45,000 cbm cargo tanks and two 500 cbm deck tanks.
The vessels feature advanced detection and mitigation safety features, including an ammonia gas detector for real-time leak monitoring and an ammonia purge recovery unit.
A shaft generator produces electricity using the propulsion engine’s rotating shaft, and a selective catalytic reduction (SCR) system to reduce nitrogen oxide emissions.
