FFS Tank Terminals to develop bunker fuel terminal in Richards Bay

February 7, 2024

South Africa’s Transnet National Ports Authority (TNPA) has appointed Durban-based FFS Tank Terminals to develop and operate a bulk liquid storage terminal for bunker fuels at the port for a 25-year period.

In September last year, the TNPA launched a Request for Proposals to design, develop, finance, build and operate the terminal at a site previously operated by ENGEN Petroleum at Richards Bay.

It is unclear how much bunker storage capacity the site will have and how soon it will be constructed.

The project is the TNPA’s first brownfield project, aligning with the Richards Bay Port Master Plan to boost liquid bulk volumes at the port’s South Dunes Precinct.
