Italian shipbuilder Fincantieri has agreed to design and construct two LNG dual-fuel cruise ships for German cruise firm TUI Cruises, scheduled for delivery in 2031 and 2032.

The newbuilds will be capable of running on both LNG and conventional marine fuels.
They will join their sister ships, Mein Schiff Relax and Mein Schiff Flow, which Fincantieri delivered earlier this year.
While LNG can lower CO2 emissions by about a quarter compared to conventional bunker fuels, a World Bank study highlights that its methane emissions can be 36 times more potent as a GHG than CO2 over a century.
