The vessels will be able to run on both methanol and conventional marine fuels. All three are being built at CMI Weihai Shipyard, which is part of China’s China Merchants Group.
The RoPax vessels are designed for the long-haul route between Finland and Germany.
The first vessel is slated to be deployed in 2028, while the remaining two are expected to be delivered between 2028-2029.
The global fleet of methanol-capable vessels currently totals 129 ships, with another 317 expected to be delivered by 2030, according to DNV.
