Both vessels will be able to deliver methanol and biofuel blends up to B100 (100% biofuel) to ships, including the most common B24 and B30 biofuel blend ratios.
Methanol-ready means that the vessels will not initially be capable of running on methanol when delivered in 2026, but they will have space allocated onboard for the future installation of methanol fuel tanks and engines.
An IMO Type 2 chemical tanker is designed for transporting moderately hazardous chemicals according to International Maritime Organization (IMO) standards.
Fratelli Cosulich Marine Energy currently has one IMO Type 2 tanker in its fleet and another on order for delivery next year. The order also includes an option to purchase two additional tankers with the same specifications at a later date.
The company has not yet specified where it will deploy all three of its upcoming methanol bunkering vessels.
