Furetank to add methane-capable tanker to its fleet

Swedish shipping company Furetank is set to expand its fleet with the methane-capable tanker Fure Vasa, which is scheduled to be launched at the Swedish port of Uddevalla later this month.

Developed by Furetank in partnership with marine engineering firm FKAB Marine Design, the vessel will become the 18th dual-fuel tanker in Furetank’s fleet. The company primarily operates its vessels on liquefied biomethane (LBM) in the EU.

Fure Vasa is owned by Furebear, a joint venture between Furetank and Canadian shipping company Algoma Central Corporation.

Following delivery, the tanker will enter the Swedish merchant fleet. However, the company has not disclosed further details about the vessel, including its shipbuilder.
