GEFO Shipping bunkers biofuel for the first time

Hamburg-headquartered GEFO Shipping recently carried out its first biofuel bunkering operation, supplying one of its deep-sea tankers with an undisclosed amount of 100% biofuel (B100).

The tanker, Gioconda, was fueled with B100 UCOME — a biodiesel produced from used cooking oil.

While GEFO has not disclosed further details about the operation, including the supplier, the bunkering was conducted in cooperation with Dutch biofuel supplier FincoEnergies.
