Gibraltar bunker calls decline further in July

The port of Gibraltar received 447 bunker calls in July, registering a 5% decrease from June, Gibraltar Port Authority (GPA) figures show.

On a year-on-year basis, Gibraltar’s bunker calls dropped by 2% in July.

The port received 2,995 bunker calls from January to July this year, recording a 1% rise from the 2,966 ships that bunkered at the port in the same period last year.   

Meanwhile, 11 cruise ships arrived for bunkers in July, a drop from 17 vessels in June. In July 2024, seven cruise vessels called for bunkering in Gibraltar.

Bunker fuel demand in Gibraltar usually increases with cruise traffic, which peaks during the summer months from April to September. 

A total of 110 cruise ships called at Gibraltar till July this year, a considerable increase from 68 in the same period a year ago.
