Gibraltar bunker calls decline in June

The port of Gibraltar received 472 bunker calls in June, registering an 18% decline from May, Gibraltar Port Authority (GPA) figures show.

On a year-on-year basis, Gibraltar’s bunker calls dropped by 2% in June.

The port received 2,548 bunker calls in the first six months of this year, recording a 2% rise from 2,510 ships from the same period last year.   

Meanwhile, 17 cruise ships arrived for bunkers in June, a drop from 22 vessels in May. In June 2024, 10 cruise vessels called for bunkering in Gibraltar.

Bunker fuel demand in Gibraltar usually increases with cruise traffic, which peaks during the summer months from April to September. 

A total of 99 cruise ships called at Gibraltar in the first six months of this year, an increase from 61 in the same period a year ago.
