Under the agreement, Towngas will produce green methanol at its facility, while Global Energy will manage its distribution to bunker buyers.
Towngas’ methanol production plant in Ordos, Inner Mongolia, converts biomass and municipal waste into green methanol. The facility aims to achieve a production capacity of 150,000 mt/year in 2025. Towngas wants to establish additional production facilities across China, with the target of achieving an annual production capacity of 1 million mt.
Global Energy operates tankers in Singapore to conduct methanol bunkering and has already completed several operations in the region, it says.
While the companies have not disclosed specific supply locations, Global Energy typically provides marine fuels in Singapore, Malaysia, and Fujairah.
In November 2024, Towngas inked a similar agreement with bunker supplier Chimbusco Pan Nation for methanol supply in Hong Kong.
