The operation, known as simultaneous operations (SIMOPs), allows vessels to refuel while cargo handling continues, significantly reducing port stay time.

MSC’s container ship MSC Thais was supplied with about 3,000 cbm (1,341 mt) of LNG at the Nansha port area in Guangzhou. The bunkering was carried out by the LNG supply vessel Haiyang Shiyou 301.

This marks the port’s first-ever LNG bunkering under SIMOPs. With this operation, Guangzhou Port has become the first port in South China capable of providing LNG bunkering services both at anchorage and at berth, according to Guangzhou Port Authority.
