Hanwha Aerospace’s hydrogen fuel cell system gets DNV nod

Classification society DNV has granted Approval in Principle (AiP) to Hanwha Aerospace for its 200-kilowatt (kW) hydrogen fuel cell system for maritime applications.

This certification ensures the system meets international safety and regulatory standards during the early design phase.

Hanwha Aerospace previously received approval from the Korean Register of Shipping (KR) and plans to further develop and commercialise the technology for various marine vessels, including commercial ships and specialised applications.

The company is a subsidiary of the South Korean conglomerate Hanwha Group.
