The 10,100-TEU Seaspan Yangtze, owned by Canadian vessel owner Seaspan and chartered to Hapag-Lloyd, has been converted from conventional fuel to dual-fuel methanol propulsion.

The ship can now operate on both methanol and conventional marine fuels.

The conversion is the first of five planned retrofits in Hapag-Lloyd’s dual-fuel methanol programme. The German carrier has also ordered eight newbuild methanol dual-fuel container ships for delivery between 2028 and 2029.
