The medium gas carrier (MGC) features a forward accommodation layout, that relocates the crew accommodation block to the fore section and provides additional useable space on board, DNV said.
The additional space can be used for new technologies like “carbon capture and storage units, alternative fuels, or other energy efficiency or emission reduction solutions,” according to DNV.
The vessel design features space for installing a dual-fuel propulsion system that can run on ammonia as well as conventional marine fuels like MGO, etc., the classification society added.
