The 210,000-dwt bulk carrier, Mount Neblina, can run on LNG or conventional marine fuels. The vessel has been chartered to an unspecified commodity trading house for a minimum of 24 months, after which the contract will automatically renew until termination by either the charterer or the owner.

The time charter includes a profit-sharing agreement on the gains made through the utilisation of the vessel’s scrubber system or when it is run on LNG.

Two of Himalaya’s newbuild vessels were bunkered with LNG in Singapore last month, when LNG bunker prices in most global ports became cheaper than VLSFO.

The vessel will also be fitted with a scrubber system to be able to run on cheaper HSFO while complying with the International Maritime Organisation's (IMO) global 0.50% sulphur limit.
