Höegh Autoliners orders six more LNG Dual-Fuel PCTCs

Norwegian shipping company Höegh Autoliners has ordered six additional LNG dual-fuel Pure Car and Truck Car Carriers (PCTCs) from China Merchants Heavy Industry (Jiangsu).

The new order takes the Norwegian shipping company's total for the vessel type to 18 ships.

The new vessels will have capacity for around 9,000 cars each and will be capable of running on LNG as well as conventional marine fuels. They are also designed with DNV class notations, indicating they can potentially be retrofitted to operate on ammonia or methanol.

The six PCTCs are scheduled for delivery between 2029 and 2031.

The company has further secured an option for four additional vessels on the same terms, along with slot reservations for another four ships at the yard. If all options and reserved slots are exercised, the programme could grow to 26 vessels, including the 12 ships already delivered or previously ordered.
