Holland America Line’s cruise ship, Rotterdam, bunkered the B100, or pure biofuel, on 27 April, before departing from the Port of Rotterdam in the Netherlands, it said.

The biofuel derived from organic waste and residues was supplied by Dutch fuel supplier FincoEnergies.

The company did not specify the quantity of biofuel bunkered on the cruise ship for the test run.

During the initial testing phase, the cruise ship will operate one of its four engines using the B100 while sailing Norway’s fjords, including Geirangerfjord and Naeroyfjord.

Holland America Line is a subsidiary of British-American luxury cruise operator Carnival Corporation.
