January 10, 2023

Houston Ship Channel has been reopened to vessel traffic in both directions after fog suspended traffic for seven hours this morning, local ship agent Norton Lilly says.

There are around 15 vessels waiting to enter the channel inbound, 11 waiting outbound and one shifting vessel pending, Norton Lilly says.

Houston Ship Channel is a key waterway for vessels going in and out of ports in the Houston area, including Houston, Galveston, Baytown and Texas City.

More fog and reduced visibility is expected later today which could lead to more intermittent channel closures.
