January 25, 2024

Houston Ship Channel has reopened for vessels coming through in both directions his morning, after fog reduced visibility and kept the channel shut yesterday, port agency Norton Lilly informs.

Although operations have resumed, there is a forecast of moderate to high risk of fog and reduced visibility throughout this week. This could lead to intermittent closures of the Houston Ship Channel, which may result in severe congestion.

Several suppliers are hesitant to offer prompt stems in the area as they expect delays to persist in the coming days.

Houston, Corpus Christi, Lake Charles, Port Arthur, Galveston and Freeport are still experiencing bunkering delays as barges struggle to load products from terminals due to fog, a source says.
