Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding gets BV approval for LNG bunker vessel design

Classification society Bureau Veritas (BV) has granted approval to a new LNG bunker vessel design developed by China’s Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding.

The 25,000 cbm vessel, developed in collaboration with French engineering firm Gaztransport & Technigaz (GTT), will address the rising global demand for large-capacity LNG bunkering, the classification society said.

Before approval, BV carried out a detailed review of the vessel’s technical documents and safety features to ensure full compliance with international standards.

The approval was announced this week at Gastech 2025 in Milan, Italy.
