Khalifa Port is operated by AD Ports, which together with IRH will look at opportunities for developing fuel storage, terminals, sampling and testing.

IRH's chief executive Ali Rashed Alrashdi said his company sees high growth potential for bunkering and alternative marine fuels. The companies list LNG, methanol and biofuels as potential alternative fuels.

"We see Khalifa Port as an ideal base from which to explore these opportunities, and we look forward to working closely with AD Ports Group to bring them to life,” Alrashdi said.
