The Free Port of Trieste, located in the Adriatic Sea in Trieste, is one of Italy’s biggest commercial ports.
The ship-to-ship (STS) bunkering was carried out by Edison’s LNG tanker, Ravenna Knutsen. This was Edison’s first-ever LNG bunkering operation. The company, however, did not reveal the details of the cruise ship that received the stem.
Edison has chartered the 30,000-cbm LNG tanker, Ravenna Knutsen, from Norwegian shipowner Knutsen OAS Shipping for bunkering operations in Italy and in the Mediterranean region.
“To consolidate our market presence, we are also developing a second LNG coastal depot in Southern Italy and a second LNG carrier ready for bunkering operations,” Edison added. The company has an LNG coastal depot in Ravenna.
It has, however, not specified whether the second LNG tanker will be a newbuild or a charter.
