The LNG bunker tanker supplies LNG-capable ships in Japan’s Chubu region and can deliver alongside quays and piers or at anchor.

The vessel is owned by two joint ventures: Central LNG Shipping Japan and Central LNG Marine Fuel Japan. Japanese shipowner Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha (K Line) set them up with NYK Line, JERA Global Energy Solutions and Toyota Tsusho.

According to K Line, the Kaguya became Japan’s first LNG bunker vessel when it began bunker operations in October 2020.

The Kaguya was halfway to its current tally in November 2024, when it delivered a stem to NYK Line’s car carrier Sakura Leader at Mikawa Port.
