K. Sætre Rederi orders fully electric vessel from Royal Bodewes
Norway-headquartered shipping company K. Sætre Rederi has placed an order with Dutch shipyard Royal Bodewes for a fully electric cargo vessel.

While the vessel’s immediate contribution to reducing global greenhouse gas emissions will be limited, it is significant for the technical and operational insights it is expected to provide, which could support the development of larger electric vessels in the future.
The vessel will be fitted with a 13.3 megawatt-hour (MWh) battery, giving it a range of more than 270 nautical miles, and is scheduled for delivery in March 2028.
It will operate along Norway’s coastal route, transporting steel products for 7 Steel Nordic from Mo i Rana.
