Kaohsiung bunker supply tightens as CPC barge glitch adds to maintenance outage

March 12, 2026

Bunker availability at Taiwan’s Port of Kaohsiung is expected to tighten further between 12–15 March after another barge operated by CPC Corporation (CPC), Bao Shan 2, experienced a technical issue, according to a market source.

CPC anticipates supply congestion during this period, as its MGO bunker barge Chung Yu No. 16 is already undergoing scheduled annual maintenance from 8 March to 10 April.

Bunker supply conditions at other major Taiwanese ports remain stable. These include Hualien in the south, Taichung on the west coast, and Keelung in the north.

Recommended lead times for both VLSFO and MGO at Keelung, Taichung and Hualien are currently around two days.
