The facility is powered by a polymer electrolyte membrane (PEM) electrolyser. It is expected to produce around 127 mt/year of green hydrogen at full capacity.
The port authority plans to use about a quarter of the output for its own operations, including fuelling the port's hydrogen-powered waste collection vessel.
The remaining green hydrogen will be sold to external customers, the port authority said.
